HOW TO DETERMINE THE ideal SIZE AND placement OF A
PENDANT LIGHT
OVER A KITCHEN ISLAND
3 PENDANT LIGHTS
Pendant fixtures above a kitchen island need to be equally spaced. We recommend that the pendants should be between 30" and 32" apart for optimal airflow, light spread, and visibility. And should be at least 6" away from the edge of the island. Hang the pendants 30” to 36” above the countertop.
2 PENDANT LIGHTS
Pendant fixtures above a kitchen island need to be spaced at least 30” from the center of the island f or optimal airflow, light spread, and visibility. And should be hung 30” to 36” above the countertop.
OVER A DINNING TABLE
The fixture’s diameter should ideally be 1/2 or 2/3 of the width of the table. For example, a 4’ wide table should be paired with a 24” to 32” wide chandelier. It should be hung 30” to 36” above the table top.
OVER A COFFEE TABLE
To determine fixture diameter, add the room’s length and width in feet and swap the unit to inches. For example, a 12’x10’ room would need a 22” wide fixture. To determine fixture height, excluding cord length, multiply the room‘s height by 2.5 or 3 and swap the unit to inches. Hang the fixture 7’ above the floor for clearance.
