I grew up in Safi and Marrakesh, one a sun-drenched coastal town in Morocco, and the other a bustling city, near the foothills of the Atlas Mountains. I drew from both, cultivating my artistic passion for marrying textures, forms, and colorful patterns. Morocco truly inspires all who know her.

Readying myself for this amazing home décor adventure — a small but bright light in my mind at the time — I moved to the U.S. in 2003. After completing my college degree in Design, I sought informative positions in product design and production. Incredibly, I had the honor of working with the legendary Michael Graves, and that light in my mind grew bigger and brighter. When it shone blindingly bright like the Moroccan sun, I knew it was time to honor my heritage and artistic vision by creating Dounia Home, a bold design aesthetic that gives character to our homes. With this intention, Dounia Home sold its first lighting piece in 2015. Today, our mission to produce innovative, high-quality lighting sustains a community of Moroccan artisans and preserves the traditional metalworking handicraft. I hope you find joy in our lighting, as much joy as we take in creating these stunning sconces, pendants, and chandeliers for you.

After moving to the U.S. in 2003 and continuing my education in Art. I earned a B.S. in Design from Drexel University. I was fortunate to join the Michael Graves Architecture and Design firm as a senior designer. Where I had the honor of working closely with the legendary Michael Graves himself for almost 5 years. In 2015, I decided to pursue my dream and start my own line of products, for the well travelled home under the Dounia Home brand.

In February, 2016 Dounia Home Launched at the NY NOW winter market with 4 designs and one finish. However things accelerated quickly, Dounia Home was featured in Blogs and Magazines and sales from around the world started coming. Our brand was very well received and before we knew it we had 3 collections on the way, offering over 20 designs, 8 sizes and four metal finishes.
